Mixenden Past and Present: Halifax Visitor Centre & Art Gallery An exhibition by Mixenden History Group, in association with Mixenden Initiative and Calderdale Libraries, Museums and Arts. Mixenden History Group was set up in 2007 and its members have been doing extensive research into the history of the area since then. The community exhibition based on these findings provides a fascinating exploration of many aspects of Mixenden and its people, including: the countryside, local farming and industry, housing through the ages, churches, schools, sport and leisure pursuits. Admission is free and the exhibition runs until 28 September 2008 |

Pigfest 2008, Ripley Village, near Harrogate This Scarecrow Hunt is a great family day out in Ripley Village (just off the B6165), 10am - 5pm. There is a piggy theme and each 'scarecrow' has a pigs head and a piggy name. Hunt for Boarglar Bill and his friends who are situated all over the village to have a chance of winning one of four great prizes. Entry is £3 and all money raised goes to the upkeep and restoration of All Saints Church, Ripley. The village is also aiming for the world's biggest knitted pig - help us complete it by knitting a 5" square and win a prize if you guess its name correctly. |

A diverse range of artists from the swinging and smooth sounds of traditional jazz to the cutting-edge cool and funky contemporary version. Chill Out Sunday focuses on the old-school sound of traditional jazz while world-famous jazz DJ Gilles Peterson headlines Jazz on the Square on Bank Holiday Monday. There will also be a number of festival fringe events around the city. |

The festival aims to include a varied programme of films of all types, with a focus on local talent. 8 Chapel Allerton Arts Festival 2008, Leeds Starting with the Short Film Festival and culminating in three days of music, dance, stalls, children's activities and art on the streets of Chapel Allerton, this is a week-long festival celebrating talent within the local community. |

8 Wild Wild West Weekend - Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway Visitors are being warned to be on their guard as notorious local cowboys ‘The Wild Bunch’ are renowned for holding up trains! Trains will be running from 10am – 5pm, normal fares will apply throughout the weekend and money raised will be donated to the Special Baby Care Unit at the Diana Princess of Wales Hospital, Grimsby. Visitors need to beware this charity event isn’t for the faint hearted! |

Happy Mondays headline on Saturday with Bradford's own Terrorvision. Other confirmed acts over the weekend include Delays, the Infadels, Alabama 3 and The Sopranos.
