Hi my name is Emma and i live in Accrington. I was lying in bed  woken just before 1am by whole bedroom shaking. window start to vibrate for a few seconds and then it carried on and then thinking "come on, stop now"I was  a bit nervous, It probably lasted 10 seconds but felt much longer.i rang my friend and asking her had she just felt that was i going mad. no she felt it two . wow we had a earthquake. Quite unnerving!

My name is Sarah and I live in Accrington, Lancashire.

At exactly 1am this morning, I jumped up out of bed, thinking someone was in my house.  I can't explain the weird feeling, I was fast asleep and my wardrobes began to shake/rattle for only about 4/5 seconds.  At first I looked outside thinking someone might be there, then I wondered if my daughter had banged the wall in her bedroom, but nothing.  As I live alone with my daughter I was a bit scared, but went down stairs just to check everything was ok and there was no one in the house.  As there was no explanation I went back to bed thinking - it was just me!!! Imagine my surprise when I woke up and switched on GMTV to hear there had actually been an Earthquake!!!

I feel so sorry for anyone affected and it must have been very scary, thankfully both my daughter and I are ok and unaffected

It was around 1am when i felt the earthquake last night, my bed was shaking for around 7 to 8 seconds. I was petrified, i could hear the sound of cracking in the walls of my house, and i thought it was going to collapse!  From Laura, Manchester.

I was up last night watching tv  and felt the earthquake, the whole bedroom wall shook and made an awful sound, I started shaking and couldn't stop crying then had to wake my mates up as they didn't feel a thing! from Sarah in Poynton/Cheshire

Hi I felt the earth quake early this morning, from Mark in Widnes

Nathan Taylor from Runcorn Cheshire

our family was all asleep when the earth tremor awoke us all from our beds,

we got up with amazement saying "was it just me feeling things or did everything just shake!!"

at 12.56 the earth tremor was felt,

we rang Cheshire police to report the incidence because we where very worried in case it was the old ICI plant might have had an explosion or something. We later put the news on to find out that 6 countries world wide had been effected.

this morning we go outside to see that our bricked pillar that supports our gates has become loose and has at least a 20cm gap from the pillar to the wall where it should be, we are now worried because this is a great hazard to people and the cars near by.

We have now rang the house insurance to where we have been told that there's nothing we can do unless you are extremely affected by this earth tremor.

I live in Wigan and i felt my bed move it was as if it was being shaken from side to side. It lasted for about 20 seconds i thought i was dreaming at first.

from Steve in Wigan

I live in Warrington Cheshire, in a 4 storey building.

I was woken early hours by the Earthquake which actually shook the building  a few times and rattled bookcases. At first I didn’t know if it was a dream or real, couldn’t comprehend what it was. Don’t think we have any damage, but it was scary.

Graham Walker here from just outside Manchester.

At 1.00 am this morning I was woken up by my bed shaking and the wardrobe doors rattling - The whole house seem to be affected as Helen, who was sleeping next door, came running in frightened to death as her bed had also been shaking - Was it just us or has an earth tremor hit Manchester! As ex Fire Service I don’t normally get flustered but this was most alarming!

All Shook Up!

Myself, my husband and my 14 year old son have just been woken from our sleep by what we can only describe as an earth tremor. It happened at 0:57 hours on the today, 27th February.

We were woken, as the bed was moving backwards and forwards, and the wardrobes were squeaking. It felt as though someone were pushing the house, nudging it rhythmically.

Luckily nothing seems to have fallen off!

Mrs Samantha Hoban, Rossendale

Don't know if anyone monitors this at this time of the morning, but there seems to have been an earthquake tremor, experienced around the Swinton area. It occurred at about 1pm.I live in the Partington Lane area and the whole house shook as if it were on a water bed!! Regards. Simon Leigh

Just felt an Earthquake shudder / movement in Wrexham, North Wales at first I thought it was my nuisance neighbour on the floor below me (as I live 2nd floor in a block of flats).
Rang my boyfriend Martin who lives in Stockport and he said it happened there too so much so that car alarms set off.
Then his sister Mim just rang him from Leeds saying she also felt the Earth Quake there too. Joanne Walker (from Wrexham)

This might sound a little strange but 1:00 am our entire street has just shaven for about 15 secs, this was definitely an earthquake, or our council tax bills have arrived on everyone’s door  steps. The latter might not be true because of the time but we never know, It was pretty strange to say the least

Just wanted to say I felt the earthquake while I was working on my computer in the early hours. It started as a low rumble then my monitor and desk started to shake and I could feel the sound through the floor. I thought that the local Shell refinery had had an explosion or something, I never thought of an earthquake!! It was quite unnerving.

At approx 00:59 there was a shaking of our house, in Maghull. The walls and everything moved, it felt really weird, and as though we were in a parked car when a truck rushes past.

Is there any record of a tremor this morning?

Thanks very much

Paul Barrett
