The Post Office has announced decisions on the future of branches across Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire following a six week public consultation which ended on 17 March.
The plans are part of a nationwide scheme aimed at reducing costs.
The plan confirmed today (06/05/08) means that 47 branches will close in Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire with the first closures scheduled to take place in June 2008.
The proposal to close Podsmead Post Office Branch is currently under further review. The review is expected to conclude in the near future and a final decision will then be announced.
The replacement of 18 branches by outreach solution was also confirmed today. For the branches at Miserden and Rendcomb a further six week period of consultation will be held on the specific details of the outreach service proposed to replace them. The date of this consultation will be confirmed shortly.
During the six week local public consultation, Post Office Ltd received around 3700 responses and attended 35 meetings with customers and their representatives to understand their concerns.
