Consumer scams and cons are on the increase. The methods employed are cruel and sophisticated.

The fight against the scammers is led by the Government’s Office of Fair Trading. This is a consumer and competition authority with a mission to make markets work well for consumers.

The OFT’s official site gives an insight into its activities. In addition to information on its methods and successes there’s a keyword search facility. Try typing in the word SCAM to find out just how big a problem it is.
