ITV Wales reaches nearly three million viewers across Wales. Transmitters which carry both our analogue and digital services are as follows:
Wenvoe, serving south-east Wales
Aberdare*
Pontypool*
Kilvey*, serving Swansea.
Carmel and Preseli, serving mid and south-west Wales
Blaen Plwyf, near Aberystwyth, serving the west and mid Wales
Moel-y-Parc and Llanddona, serving north Wales
(* denotes a relay)
These transmitters are augmented by approximately 200 analogue-only relay transmitters which help to deliver our services to communities in areas where reception would otherwise be impossible.
Our transmitters are operated under contract by Arqiva and, together with them, we try to ensure that there are as few service outages as possible. However, some routine maintenance work is necessary from time to time which, for safety and technical reasons, can involve a temporary reduction in signal strength or, very occasionally, a break in service.
If you do experience reception difficulties, then you should firstly check with neighbours to see if they have the same problem. If this is the case, a local TV dealer may be able to advise you on the status of your local relay station. If you receive ITV Wales via a cable network, then you should refer queries to that service provider.
Failing this, please contact the Duty Office via the Viewer Services link.

Widescreen Viewing Information
Our widescreen (16:9) programmes are only transmitted on Digital Terrestrial (Freeview) and Satellite (Sky). To receive these services you will require a suitable set-top-box or integrated digital TV receiver. For correctly shaped pictures, you will need to ensure that the output of your set-top-box is configured to match the shape of your TV set. This simple menu adjustment will be explained in the user-manual supplied with your set-top-box.
If you have a conventional (4:3) TV then the set-top-box will offer you the option of filling the screen with the central part of the picture or viewing the whole picture with black borders at the top and bottom. The former option will remove the sides of the picture and cause some captions to be cropped.
Please note that we do not transmit widescreen pictures on our analogue service.
