ITV in Wales started in 1958 with TWW. HTV took over the Wales and West franchise in 1968. Now, following several take-overs, ITV Wales is part of ITV plc. We are a national broadcaster, covering the whole of Wales, with the main office and station at Culverhouse Cross in Cardiff.
We also have outlying offices in Colwyn Bay, Newtown, Carmarthen and at Cardiff Bay. Currently we produce 9½ hours a week of programmes in the English language about Wales. This includes 5½ hours of news, which is covered by our nightly flagship programme, Wales Tonight, and various bulletins throughout the day and at weekends. The news is also served by two live links vehicles, which can cover stories as they happen across the whole of Wales.
We produce 4 hours of non-news programming, which includes the current affairs series, Wales This Week, Waterfront, our political series, the ever popular consumer programme, The Ferret, and documentaries, such as, Fishlock’s Wild Tracks.
We also supply around an hour a week of Welsh language programming to S4C including the long-running current affairs programme, Y Byd ar Bedwar, Hacio for the younger audience and the very popular, Cefn Gwlad.
