Norwich City manager Glenn Roeder has told Anglia's Donovan Blake the Canaries had yet to miss out on any major transfer targets, and he was hopeful a new face would arrive in the next few days.
The City boss also talked about the futures of two more Canary stars - Simon Lappin and Gary Doherty.
Fans have been nervous that with 9 players being shown the door, including City favourite Darren Huckerby, there was a distinct lack of transfer activity at Carrow Road.
But Roeder said the Forest midfielder Sammy Clingan was just the start of things to come.
He told Donovan, he understood fans anxieties but they should trust him: "We have not missed out any signing yet. Transfers are not done in 24 hours any more, and we are taking them (player targets) one at a time."
While refusing to be drawn on transfer speculation, he admitted he was delighted to see the club being linked with high profile players like Shola Ameobi.
"It shows the esteem this club is held in and that players see us as one of the biggest clubs in the Championship, which we are.
"Is should not be difficult to get players to come here, it's a great place to live and play football."
Closer to home Roeder admitted Simon Lappin could be allowed to leave the club if a suitable bid was received but that contract negotiations with Gary Doherty were continuing.
Roeder also said that he was confident of generating a major turnbaround in performance next season, and hoped to be threatening the top, rather than bottom, of the division.
