Norwich City have made their first summer signing - Nottingham Forest midfielder Sammy Clingan.
The highly-regarded midfielder underwent a medical today and penned a two-year deal.
The Northern Ireland International played 86 times for Forest. The free kick specialist spent much of last season out with a broken ankle, but was rumoured to be a target for cash-rich QPR.
He will join up with Norwich on a Bosman when his Forest contract expires on July 1st.
Clingan, 24, told the Norwich City website that he was delighted to be joining the Canaries.
"Once I had spoken to Glenn Roeder and viewed the facilities it was an easy decision to make."
He continued: "I was very impressed with what he said and his plans for the future."
Meanwhile Ipswich Town have made their second signing this week as Gareth McAuley signs a three-year deal.
The Leicester City man joins just days after Pim Balkestein from Heerenveen. The fee is reported to be around the £1m mark.
The Northern Irish defender has been a long-term target for the Suffolk outfit.
Jim Magilton had been linked with a move for the player for some time and the failure of the bid to sign Cardiff's Roger Johnson may have rekindled the move for his fellow countryman.
McAuley signed for Leicester in 2006 and made 86 appearances and scored 10 goals for the Foxes.
