| Ched: Wants Man City chance |
Norwich City's hopes of re-signing Ched Evans on loan could have been scuppered after the teenager revealed his determination to break into the Manchester City team.
Evans, 19, played a major role in keeping the Canaries in the Championship.
Now the striker looks set to his first full Wales cap tomorrow in a friendly against Iceland in Reykjavik.
Having starred for the Under-21s, Rhyl-born Evans is set to be given his big chance by Wales boss John Toshack.
And coming after he has been awarded a new three-year contract with the Eastlands club, the season is ending on a high note for Evans.
Evans impressed City boss Sven-Goran Eriksson last season but he is concerned that the Swede may not be in charge of the club much longer.
"I had a loan spell at Norwich last season and that worked well, I scored a few goals and got some experience.
"But I am back at Manchester City now, and with a new three-year contract, so I am really pleased with the way things have gone.
"For me to maybe win my first full cap for Wales this week either in Iceland or Holland would be the perfect end to a great season for me.
"It means a lot to me to get a new contract with City. I have grown up there and I want to play in the first team there now and be a regular.
"When I go back for pre-season, I will be firing on all cylinders and trying to impress whoever is the manager by then."
He added: "It was a big step up going into the Championship on loan at Norwich, and since then I have been training with the first team at City. All that has got me into the Wales squad, it couldn't be better."
