About the People’s Postcode Lottery
With the People’s Postcode Lottery, everyone wins together – local communities and local charities.
The lottery is played by entering our players’ postcodes in to a weekly draw. The £25,000 prize money is shared between all players in the winning street.
By playing, local people help local charities with on-going donations improving the lives of wildlife, children and families beyond compare.
These beneficiaries are incredibly grateful to People’s Postcode Lottery players, who make it all possible.
People’s Postcode Lottery winnings have totaled over £2,500,000 to date and donations to local charities have topped £1,000,000.
Over 20,000 tickets have now won with the People’s Postcode Lottery.
A guaranteed ‘Street Prize’ of £25,000 is given to the winning street each week.
Postcode Lottery players living on that street get an equal share of this prize money, depending on how many tickets they have. For example, if there are two players with one ticket each, they both get £12,500.
Each week, the winning street is visited by the Postcode Lottery team and Ambassadors Ingrid Hagemann and Judie McCourt.
Other ambassadors include Kelvin Fletcher, from Emmerdale and Newcastle United’s Peter Rammage.
The People’s Postcode Lottery England was launched in the North East of England in August 2005. It is operated by the well-established Dutch Postcode Lottery (Nationale Postcode Loterij), which has given over €3 billion to global charities in the past 18 years.
The People’s Postcode Lottery originally only supported charities in the North East such as Children North East and The Northumberland Wildlife Trust. Now thanks to the large take-up of players in Yorkshire, it is also able to support The Yorkshire Wildlife Trust and the Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust.
