Yorkshire Wildlife Trust have launched a brand new photography competition in association with ITV Local Yorkshire. This will run from April until September 29th.

CATEGORIES
· Yorkshire Wildlife Trust Nature Reserves
This includes any photographs taken on, or of our reserves.
· Wild Yorkshire
This includes any photographs taken within Yorkshire, it could include photos of wildlife, landscapes or a photograph showing how people enjoy nature.
· Creative Use of Light in the Natural Environment
why not try and capture something from the natural environment in an unusual and creative manner?
· Childrens/Schools
This category is open to anyone under the age of 18. You could take a photograph and send it in on behalf of your school. Within this category you can submit any wildlife or landscape picture taken within Yorkshire.
PRIZES
1st A guided trip around a Trust nature reserve of your choice with a member of staff and photography workshop with Paul Miguel
2nd Behind the scenes at ITV Yorkshire - there may also be the opportunity to look around Film Lab North for those of you interested in film processing.
3rd A behind the Scenes Tour of the Deep in Hull
Commended A free year’s membership to the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust
· Winners will be announced in October, date TBC. The Judges will include Howard Dawson, from ITV's Film Lab North
· Prizes will be awarded at Potteric Carr Nature Reserve
· There will be an exhibition of entries displayed in several venues around Yorkshire.
· The best entries will be published in ‘Yorkshire Wildlife’, the magazine of Yorkshire Wildlife Trust. For this, an original, unedited digital image will be required
· There will be a certificate and prize for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd winners of each category
SENDING IN YOUR PHOTO
· There is a charge of £1 per image. Cheques payable to Yorkshire Wildlife Trust
· Entries should be submitted as either:
- unmounted prints [maximum size A4]
- slides [no glass mounts please]
- digital files sent on CD.
Please write your name and list the categories you are entering on the CD cover
· Digital files should be saved as TIFFs or JPEGs. Uncompressed file size should be a minimum of 5MB for RGB files and 2MB for greyscale
· Digital files should indicate title of image and format
e.g. Avocets @ N Cave NR.tif [or jpg]
· Digital images should be accompanied by the original unedited file and an unmounted print
· Entries plus cheque should be posted to:
Kirsten Smith, 1 St George’s Place, YORK, YO24 1GN and clearly marked ‘Yorkshire Wildlife Trust photo competition’.
· We regret that entries cannot be returned once submitted
