On tonight's London Programme, we follow the officers on the frontline of the fight against nuisance noise and we reveal the car that makes more noise than a jumbo jet taking off.
The UK Noise Association has just published a paper about noise on London's public transport, some of its findings include:
1. Bank is noisiest station on the tube network
2. The Picadilly line is the noisiest line in London
3. The north circular is London's Noisiest road.
Westminster noise team deal with over 18,000 noise complaints per year (over 50 a day)
According to the world health organisation 2% of all Europeans suffer disturbed sleep because of noise pollution
Last year nuisance noise was a factor in 6 homicides in the UK
Complaints about noise to local goverment offices have increased by around 500% in the last 20 years.
