Most importantly, if you’re coming to watch the Marathon – come by public transport. Don’t even think of trying to drive.
Use the official marathon route interactive map to help decide where you’re going to watch – it’ll show you the nearest tube, train and DLR stations.
The bulk of the runners set off from 9:45am, but if you want to see the elite women be aware they set off at 9am. If you know roughly how long a particular runner is likely to take, you can work out where you will see them, and when, with the pace guide.
It’s worth checking latest travel news at www.itvlocal.com/london/travel before you set out, as weekend engineering works could disrupt your journey. Bus routes will also be affected by the road closures for the race.
If you need it you can download a leaflet detailing road closures on the day, including the times roads will reopen.
It’s thirsty work watching all those runners - good job there’s a guide to pubs along the route!
Finally take along a video camera to capture the efforts of whoever you’re cheering on – and then show the world just what they achieved by uploading the video to our GrassRoots Sport site.
